Before I review King of Monkeys, a video slot by GameArt, let's have some useless trivia about the Monkey King in Chinese mythology:

• He was a super strong primate, lifting thousands of pounds of weight; also super fast - able to travel thousands of miles in one somersault. (Why a somersault I wonder – he sounds like a bit of a show-off, I mean run or jump already – a somersault is just being too flashy!)

• The Monkey King could transform into various animals and objects. He had one slight problem though – his tail would never transform. (kinda hard to pretend you're a table or chair with a tail swinging around!)

• He was able to cast spells for protection and control of the elements.

So basically this dude was the first superhero in literature! Friggin awesome!

The King of Monkeys can swing onto your P.C, mobile device or tablet. It's a striking slot with an arid desert background setting the scene for an otherworldly journey. The spirit of fantasy and adventure is evident early on and I felt invigorated from the start.

Gameplay

The graphics are cartoon style with an edge and are superbly rendered, as is the animation. The sound effects keep excitement levels high, but the music doesn't seem to add to the atmosphere.

Conclusion

King of Monkeys blends great graphics and gameplay with some fantastic features. As someone with way too much body hair, finally there's a title character I could relate to, so that was a bonus for me!
