Seadogs Story Slot Review
Wednesday the 19th of September is "International Talk Like A Pirate Day!" While not embraced by anybody at work, except Clyde in accounting and me, it's a lot of fun. Those management meetings on the 19th are interesting: “Arrgghh we be seeing mighty fine website traffic – but best we prepare for stormy times ahead year-end mateys!” I proclaim loudly. I can then see the wheels turning in my CEO's mind - “How much will it cost me to get rid of this guy?”, while some others at least stifle a laugh. The great news is now I don't have to wait for that one special day of the year to dress up and utilise my extensive pirate vocabulary! Because, every day I can play Seadogs Story, a video slot created by Belatra Games. Best of all I can play it on any device or platform – even a train platform on the way to work! Or, at home during my suspension from work for being late because I keep on missing the train… Salty Seadogs was tough to play at first with my eye-patch on, but after a short time, I acclimatized. I felt more like a Long John Silver than Jack Sparrow when beginning this classically inspired slot. I was a swashbuckling fiend, and I felt fear for no man on the sea as I embarked on my voyage.
I had never played a game by Belatra Games before, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect regarding ease of use. I must say, I was impressed. There are 5 reels and 25 paylines with a layout that is plain sailing. From left: Game setting, Bet Amount, Lines/Credit Total, Bet/Total bet, Paid Win Display, Max Bet and Start/Autoplay. It took a short time to get my bearings, but after that, it felt very intuitive. The symbols are a map, captain, deckhand, coin, telescope, gun (free spins only), pirate dice, rum, bomb, and face card letters. The map is the wild of the game and can substitute for all other symbols except the bomb (which is the scatter) and the gun.
After each winning spin, there is a gamble option in which you can either chose a simple double or nothing black/red bet or you can try get 4x your profit by choosing the color and suit. Between 11 and 35 Free Spins are unlocked when you land 3 or more scatters. (A free reel re-spin is given if only two scatters land on the screen.)While in free spins, 3 or more scatters will unlock further free spins, up to a maximum of 109!
During Free Spins, if 3 or more gun symbols land then you are taken to a bonus game! In this bonus round, you get to shoot at targets for extra prizes.
The graphics are solid with a definite nod to the Errol Flynn days of pirate epics. The music hardly ever appeared but was nice enough when it did. The sound effects didn't fit in that well with the theme – personally, I found them a bit modern. Performance of the game was top notch.
Seadogs Story is an excellent foray into pirating in the comfort of your own home. I really enjoyed the theme and the added extras. If you're a pirate at heart, then embrace that and join my crew of players in Seadogs Story! Can I take the eye-patch off now?
