Rise of the Valkyrie Splitz Slot Review

Introduction

Times are tough, so having a side hustle is kind of a necessity these days. But slaving away at multiple jobs or moonlighting in a Ronald McDonald outfit is not for me.

I’m of the “work smarter not harder” school of thought so seeing as I’m already spending my time on slots, I thought – what if I could maximize my time to bring in some extra bucks?

Luckily, it wasn’t just me who had that brain fart. Check out what Yggdrasilbrought to the table with Rise of the Valkyrie Splitz slot.

Gameplay

This time around, I’m gonna do something I never do – I’m not going to waffle on about this game’s design! I know, I’m a bit crazy like that.

After all, you can see for yourself; it’s mountains and Viking stuff but there are more important things at play here. Like, check out the red and green things above the grid, and that meter to the left-hand side, and the SIDE STRIKE button to the right. That’s the shit I wanna get to.

I will say that Rise of the Valkyrie Splitz slot isn’t mobile-friendly in portrait mode. Luckily, it’s perfectly fine in landscape so don’t stress if you want to take this game on the road with you.

PS: That symbol to the bottom right is the INFO button, which you’ll also find in the hamburger menu. Weirdly, I couldn’t find a setting for the Turbo spins.

The action takes place across 15,552 (!) paylines and the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
is an industry-standard 96.5%. This is a medium to high volatility slot that only accepts fiat currency, and the max win is €150,000.

Features

Right, now onto the interesting stuff.

The Valkyrie babe is the SPLITZ, and she can transform into 2 to 4 of the same symbols. Nifty trick, eh. These symbols will be seen on reels 2 to 4.

When she’s sitting on her white steed, she’s the WILD and can transform into any symbol other than the Collect, Coin, or Splitz. Wilds appear on reels 2 to 5.

The COLLECT symbol is a yellow square with purple text, and it only appears on reel 1. All the coin prizes will be awarded immediately when you see this bad boy on the reels.

The COIN symbol is a yellow circle with a purple triangle design on it. Land these and you could clinch a prize ranging from 1x to 888x your total bet (except during Side Strike bets).

The SPLITZ STORM is the meter to the left. While you’re spinning, the first 9 Splitz Wild symbols that you land will leave a gilded frame behind on the reels after they disappear.

When you land the 10th one, these borders transform back into Splitz symbols. Your progress will be reflected in the meter, so you know where you’re at.

The HOLD & RESPIN feature comes into play when 6 or more Coin symbols grace the reels with their presence. You’ll get 3 Respins and the Coins will stay put while the other positions spin. Land an additional Coin or Collect symbol and you’ll reset the Respin counter to 3.

And now for the SIDE STRIKE. This feature is only available in some jurisdictions and the way it works is that you need to select either a red or green chip. Red ones only appear on reel 1, while the green chips only appear on reel 5.

If your chip comes in twice as often as the other chip, you get a 5x total strike bet award. If your chip comes in only 1 more time than the other, you get a 2x total strike bet award. If both red and green chips land 2 times each, you still get a 1x payout.

You can decide how many rounds you want to play for, and how much money you wanna bet for the feature. And the best part is: the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

for Side Strike is a humungous 98%!

Performance

Yggdrasil did their job well. I didn’t experience any hiccups while putting this game through its paces on my various devices.

Maximum Win

Your reward for clocking this game won’t be a trip to Valhalla – which isn’t a bad thing as then you’d be deceased. Instead, you’ll walk away €150,000 richer when you land that 5,000x multiplier at the max bet.

Conclusion

I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. While some of the features are ones we’ve seen before, that Side Strike put it over the top for me and I kept coming back to it.

Other standout features include the Splitz Storm that makes sure you don’t get bored during the base game – which is what more studios should be baking into their games – and then there’s the chance to win an 888x multiplier.

I also feel like the volatility is perfect as it keeps you engaged, but also offers the chance of big wins.

To paraphrase Simon Cowell: It’s a resounding “yes” from me.
