Dynasty of Death Slot: Chess in Ancient Greece? Sure, Why Not
According to Greek mythology, Hades saw Persephone picking flowers and decided the best way to flirt was apparently felony kidnapping with a side of forced relocation to the Underworld. Zeus, being the divine HR department from hell, had technically approved the whole mess, leaving Demeter to torch the concept of seasonal stability until someone finally agreed that maybe abducting your niece-bride was a bit much, even by Olympian standards.
Don’t you just love Greek mythology? For Hacksaw, however, eternal damnation, forced marriage, and one of history’s messiest family arrangements apparently weren’t exciting enough. Persephone needed a way to girlboss her way out of the Underworld, and, naturally, the only thing worthy of this revised storyline was a game of chess. With that gloriously confused mashup as the pitch, we get the Dynasty of Death slot.
Welcome to the Underworld
The Dynasty of Death slot features 14 paylines across five reels. Betting starts from $0.10 per spin and is capped at $25. At the top end, the 12,500x max multiplier means you’ll have a shot at up to $312,500 in winnings.
With high volatility, the gameplay will lean towards less frequent wins as you chase the slot’s bigger payouts. The slot’s expected RTP is 96.27%.
The DuelReels feature is activated when a VS symbol lands and expands into a DuelReel as part of a win. Once fully expanded, DuelReels act as wilds and substitute for all pay symbols.
When a DuelReel covers its reel, a duel takes place between two duellists on the symbol. Each duellist can carry a multiplier between x2 and x100, along with a possible Cash Prize worth from 2x up to the game’s maximum win.
The winning duellist applies their values to the result. Any multiplier awarded applies to all wins connected to that reel. If more than one DuelReel is included in the same win, the multipliers are added together before being applied.
The Dynasty of Death slot features three unique free spins features:
- King’s Defence Free Spins: Landing three scatters in the base game triggers 10 free spins. This round uses the same mechanics as the base game but gives you a greater chance of triggering DuelReels. Landing two or three scatters during any bonus round awards an additional two or four free spins, respectively.
- Queen’s Dominion Free Spins: Landing four scatters in the base game triggers 10 free spins. This round works in the same way as King’s Defence, except DuelReels are guaranteed to include at least one duelling Cash Prize.
- Immortal Mate Hidden Free Spins: Landing five scatters triggers 10 Immortal Mate Hidden Epic spins. This round includes the mechanics from King’s Defence, while guaranteeing two VS symbols on every spin. Each VS symbol will include two duelling Cash Prizes with a minimum value of 10x.
In addition to allowing you to trigger the slot’s free spins features naturally, Dynasty of Death also gives you the option to purchase a round of King’s Defence or Queen’s Dominion free spins for 100x or 200x your bet amount, respectively. Immortal Mate Hidden Epic free spins can only be triggered by landing five scatter symbols.
Does the Dynasty of Death slot earn its expansion of the universe?
Chess in Ancient Greece? Sure, why not? It’s hardly the strangest creative decision to come out of Greek mythology, where half the family tree looks like it was assembled during a power cut.
As for the Dynasty of Death slot itself, it looks good, and the DuelReels mechanic is still solid. The addition of Cash Prizes gives the feature a little more weight, while the three free spins rounds add enough variation to stop the whole thing from feeling completely recycled.
It’s another solid Hacksaw slot, but it’s not blowing me away. I give it a nine out of ten.
If you’re looking for a few 10/10 Hacksaw slots, I recommend Epic Bullets & Bounty and Aiko and the Wind Spirit.
