Hunt for Fresh Wins in Shark Squad Slot
Did you know that most modern shark species had evolved when dinosaurs were still roaming the Earth? So, when you visit your local aquarium, you’re basically visiting Jurassic Park without all the unfortunate “accidents.”
Darling, it’s better down where it’s wetter
Think Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles if they were sharks. That’s what you should be expecting from Shark Squad slot. It’s not a perfect comparison as the leader looks more like Hannibal Smith from the A-Team than Leonardo. However, the hammerhead shark with his katana definitely gives off some Leonardo vibes. Before I get too far into the weeds here, just know that it’s a fun theme that has been graphically well executed.
There is one small gripe, though. I can’t help but feel that it would have been so much cooler if, during a spin, the symbols floated up from the bottom of the reels as if they were rising to the surface of the ocean. Maybe for Shark Squad 2?
The catch of the day
If you’ve ever gone fishing, you know that one day you’ll catch a bucket full, and others you’ll leave without so much as a nibble. Well, Shark Squad slot has a few nibbles, but there definitely isn’t a bounty of bonus features.
In the base game we have tumbling reels and a wild symbol. Tumbling reels will eliminate symbols involved in winning combinations with new symbols dropping into their place. This will continue to occur until no new winning combinations are triggered. The wild symbol is pretty standard, substituting for all other symbols apart from the bonus symbol to complete winning combinations.
With the appearance of three or more bonus game symbols, you’ll get six free spins. During free spins, grabbing three to five bonus game symbols will unlock between 2 and 15 additional free spins. You can unlock a maximum of 300 free spins during a round of free spins.
And that’s about it. To say the slot’s features are stock standard would be an understatement. Moving on.
Is Shark Squad slot ferocious or forgettable?
Shark Squad slot has a lot going for it. The graphics are some of the best from a shark-themed slot that I’ve seen recently, and it has an interesting premise that, I think, could have been utilised to implement some exciting themed bonus features. However, the bonus features are, unfortunately, pretty standard, leaving very little room for exciting gameplay. I will say, the cinematic transition to and from a round of free spins is a highlight. It’s just not enough, in my opinion.
You’d be forgiven for thinking that the €240,600 max win makes the slot an attractive option. Spoiler, it doesn’t. The thing about max win amounts is that you can only spin for a chance to grab that amount if you’re betting the max bet with each spin. Shark Squad slot’s max bets are staggeringly high at €200 a spin. Yes, that’s €200 each and every spin of the reels.
The slot does, however, have a 96.2% RTP rating. So, my suggestion would be to bump down the bet amount and settle for smaller wins as you explore the ocean depths.
