Battle Hordes of Monsters in the Gates of Hellfire Slot

There was no greater thrill than waking up at the crack of dawn, sneaking past my snoring parents like a tiny, sleep-deprived ninja, and booting up Doom on our family’s ancient PC. The moment those pixelated demons loaded in, I transformed from a bleary-eyed child in Spider-Man pajamas to an unstoppable spacev marine with a bloodlust that could only be satisfied by shotgun blasts and MIDI guitar riffs.

I don’t think any game has every been able to replicate that insane thrill that Doom gave me. However, when I launched Gates of Hellfire slot from Gaming Corps, the nostalgia hit hard!

You can’t just walk through the Gates of Hellfire!

Betting on the Gate of Hellfire slot starts from just $0.10, with a maximum bet limit of $20. If you’re betting at that upper level, you’ll have a shot at winning up to $100,000, thanks to a 5,000x maximum multiplier. The slot has high volatility, meaning you’ll be unable to count on frequent smaller payouts while you’re chasing those big wins! The slot’s RTP ranges from 96.02% to 96.15%.

The Gates of Hellfire slot offers a unique gameplay experience with a dual-reel setup. The first five rows form a 5×5 grid, where enemies appear randomly, while the sixth row is a separate 1×5 grid displaying your available weaponry. When the reels spin, enemies and weapons are placed randomly in their respective grids. Each weapon then activates one by one, attacking the enemies. If an enemy is defeated, you’ll be awarded its displayed multiplier value. Taking down multiple enemies in a single round adds their multipliers together before awarding the total prize.

Hellbox Enhancements

Positioned to the right of the grid, the Hellbox delivers game-changing upgrades that enhance both standard and bonus gameplay. These include:

  • Second Strike – Once all initial weapon attacks resolve, the Weapon Reel and Hellbox re-spin for additional attacks.
  • Multiplier – Increases payouts from defeated enemies by a displayed multiplier (inactive during Hellfire Spins).
  • Health Pack – Restores 2 Health Points, but only during Hellfire Spins.
  • Scatter Symbol – Works with other Scatters to trigger the Hellfire Spins feature.

Weapons and Combat Mechanics

Victory in Gates of Hellfire depends on the weapons available via the Weapon Reel. Each weapon impacts different areas of the grid and inflicts varying amounts of damage:

  • Shotgun – Strikes its entire column, dealing 2 points of damage per affected position.
  • Sniper – Targets its column with 5 points of damage per position.
  • Crossbow – Hits its column and adjacent columns with 5 points of damage per position.
  • Rocket Launcher – Causes devastation in a random 3×3 area, dealing 20 points of damage per position.
  • Chainsaw – Clears all positions in a random row, inflicting 10 points of damage per position.
  • Plasma Gun – Strikes the entire grid with 15 points of damage per position.
  • MFG – The most powerful weapon, dealing 40 points of damage to every position on the grid.

Boss Battles and High-Value Enemies

While the base game features various enemies, the Hellfire Spins bonus introduces powerful bosses that require strategy and patience to defeat. These foes come with substantial health pools but yield significantly higher rewards:

  • Baron Twins – Each has 600 health and offers rewards up to 50x the bet.
  • Infernal Spider – A mid-tier boss with 1,200 health, offering payouts up to 500x the bet.
  • Hellfire Tyrant – The ultimate challenge with 4,000 health, but with potential rewards reaching 5,000x the bet.

To trigger Hellfire Spins, you’ll need three Scatters—one in the Weapon Reel and two in the Hellbox. Once activated, you start with five health points and must battle through three bosses in a fixed order: Baron Twins, Infernal Spider, and Hellfire Tyrant. After every spin, the current boss attacks, knocking off one health point, but taking them down fully restores your health. Defeat them all, and the feature ends with your total accumulated prize.

If you want to boost your chances of triggering the bonus, the Hot Bet option guarantees a Scatter on every spin, but it’ll cost you 40 percent more per bet.

Not interested in unlocking features the old-fashioned way? The Feature Buy lets you jump straight into the fight. Pay 80 times your bet to trigger the standard bonus with three Scatters, or go all-in with a 250 times bet for the Showdown Spin, where you face the Hellfire Tyrant in a single, high-stakes spin.

Is the Gates of Hellfire slot so good it must be a deal with the devil?

I’ve reviewed thousands of slots over my ten-year career. Most offer little in the way of unique gameplay. Even fewer manage to package innovation into something genuinely fun and engaging. But every now and then, a unicorn comes along. The Gates of Hellfire slot from Gaming Corps is one of them.

It’s unnecessarily good—from the blistering retro metal soundtrack to the graphics that look ripped straight out of a triple-A game. But the real star here is the gameplay. The unique format kept me hooked, eager to unlock new weapons and see what insane monsters would crawl onto the reels next.

This is one you HAVE to try. Ten out of ten. No notes.

If you’re looking for a few other great slots from Gaming Corps, I recommend trying out Wet and Wild Beavers and Buffalo Bash.
